PreK 4 Day at a Glance
Arrival → Encourage children to take off their coat, unpack their backpacks, put folder in the bin inside the classroom, and work on table activity. Once all students have arrived circle time will begin.
Circle Time Routine →- Welcome song or Activity
- Opening Prayer: Guardian Angel/Our Father/Hail Mary/Glory Be
- Pledge of Allegiance
- Assign classroom helpers
- Calendar Routine – Day of the week, date, month
- Weather
- Letter of the day/Theme of the week – Smartboard Activity or carpet game
- Review Center Activities
Bathroom and handwashing → Once circle time ends the children wait for their turn to use the bathroom, wash hands and sit for snack, while waiting children will look at books (quiet reading time).
Prayer and Snack → Students may pack a snack or eat school provided snack. Please send a filled reusable water bottle labeled with your child’s name. We refill water bottles as needed.
Center Activities → Religion, Weekly Readers, projects related to the letter or theme. Lots of hands on learning! If a student is not at a table center, they may free play in centers around the room.
Music and Movement
Recess/ Gross Motor
Dismissal Half day students→ Half Day students will be dismissed from the playground.
Lunch →Lunch will be in the cafeteria with 3rd and 4th grade.
Cleanup → Students will put lunch boxes away, use the bathroom and prepare for the afternoon.
Afternoon craft and/ or small group activity→ This may be finishing am work, an extension activity or reinforcement of morning lesson.
Recess/ Gross Motor
Afternoon Centers → This may be structured or free play.
Closing Circle/Music and movement
Dismissal→ Students will pack for dismissal and be dismissed from the breezway at 3pm.
