On March 27th, 2014 the Home & School Association hosted Mary McCoy, from Youth Safety Education Services, LLC. She discussed the topic of Children and Social Media. It was an informative presentation, which outlined why cyber bullying is different from traditional bullying, what we as parents can do to prevent it, and how you can report it when it happens. In addition, she discussed the cyber bullying laws that are in place in the state of Pennsylvania . Mary left us with a great list of tools and apps for parents that is worth sharing. The list contains mobile apps, software and services available to you for monitoring your child’s on-line activity . She also provided a document which contains Parental Control Options which outlines how to control what your child can access and view on many different platforms, including phone service providers and gaming systems. These documents will be part of the Montgomery County Cyber Bulling Task Force Resource Guide. The documents can be accessed by clicking on the links below.
