Please see links below my name, to the left, for important information regarding our Pre-K class!
I am so excited to teach PreK this year! My name is Lynette Smith and I have been involved in the Holy Family community in several different ways before joining the teaching team. My husband and I have 2 children who attend Holy Family which gave me the opportunity to be part of the Home and School Association. Over the last couple of years, I helped in Preschool and PreK as an aid and last year I long term substituted in Preschool and Kindergarten. It is safe to say, I think Holy Family is a special place.
I have a BA is Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and a MA is Special Education also from Arcadia University. Before having children, I taught in Philadelphia. First, at United Cerebral Palsy Association as an itinerant preschool teacher providing early intervention to children in many centers and homes across North and Northwest Philadelphia. Then, as a classroom teacher in the center's integrated preschool program. Next, I worked for the School District of Philadelphia in South Philadelphia where I taught Head Start, a preschool for three to five year olds. All three experiences were amazing and gave me an opportunity to see a wide range of teaching styles. What better way to really put together a style that works best for me and the kids?
When I am not at school, I like to hangout in our backyard and play with our dog. I also love to travel and play golf.
I attended Catholic school for 12 years and have very fond memories of my grade school and high school years. I hope to be the beginning of many great school memories for your children. I look forward to getting to know all our PreK friends and guiding them through a great year of growth.
