Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year! I am excited to be teaching Pre-K this year at Holy Family. I know sending your young child to school can be a little frightening, but please know your children are in good hands! This year will be full of fun, but also a time of growth for your child. The skills we practice daily in PreK are the building blocks for your child’s future.
In our classroom I strive to provide a nurturing, loving and faith-based environment. I believe in fostering growth socially and emotionally through positive modeling and interaction. In addition, students learn religion, engage in daily circle time, crafts, indoor/outdoor play, story time, music and movement and much more. We focus on developing the whole child mind, body and spirit.
Our weekly themes incorporate reading, writing, and language skills. There are also math, science and social studies lessons within each theme. These lessons are hands-on and fun! I want nothing more than to encourage a love of learning in each child who enters my classroom.
All students in our classroom are part of a close-knit community that allow them to gain self-confidence, responsibility and to foster cooperation. We play, learn and grow together! PreK is so much FUN!! About the Teacher
Hello! My name is Melissa Nieves Sanabria, but you can call me Miss Nieves . I am happy for the opportunity to teach at Holy Family School. My previous experience includes teaching in early learning centers in New York City since 2002 and most recently as a Headstart family service worker for the CCIU and a Preschool 3 teacher for the Phoenixville Area Children’s Learning Center. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and Psychology and a Master’s degree in Human Services.
I place a great importance on providing developmentally appropriate instruction with an emphasis on beginning reading, writing and math and bilingual Spanish. Examples of kindness in accordance with our Catholic faith will also be a regular part of our day.
I look forward to getting to know your children and you throughout the school year. Weekly class newsletters will be emailed to you so you’re aware of class happenings, special events, and reminders. If you have any questions, please email me at Mnieves@myholyfamilyschool.org. Thank you and as my mother would say “Dios te bendiga y te compaña” (God bless you and be with you).
