Dear HFS Families,

Happy Friday! We have had a most lovely first full week of school. The weather has been uncharacteristically cool and breezy, and I have to say that I have enjoyed having the windows open. It fills my heart with joy to hear the students outside yelling and laughing. I can’t say it enough that I have missed them so much, and I am glad to have them “home” with us again. “You have made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence” (Acts 2:28).

Cyber Day Guidance

Our first cyber day is approaching, and I would like to provide you with an idea of what to expect.

• Teachers will communicate with you regarding the assignments to be completed.

• Assignments will be posted on the teachers’ web pages on the school website and/or in Google Classroom.

• Teachers will hold office hours for a short portion of the day to be available for any questions or concerns.

  • Office hours will be posted on the teachers’ web pages.

• Students in grades K-4 should spend approximately 1-2 hours total on the assigned work.

• Students in grades 5-8 should spend approximately 2-3 hours total on the assigned work.

Staffing Update

This is a friendly reminder that Mrs. Patricia Guzman will be assuming the position of 7th/8th Grade ELA teacher on Monday, 9/21. While Mrs. Martino and I have enjoyed working with your children, the time has come for us to resume our “regularly scheduled programming.” Once Mrs. Guzman settles in, we will arrange a virtual meeting so we can give her a proper HFS welcome.

Teacher Spotlight

This week, I would like to shine the light on Mrs. Martino. For the past 2 weeks, Mrs. Martino has stepped back into the classroom to help provide stability and consistency to our 7th and 8th Grade students. She has taken the time to provide thoughtful and engaging lessons while challenging the students. It has been a pleasure co-teaching with her!
