Dear HFS Families,
Happy Halloween Weekend! There is a slight chill in the air, and our little ghouls and goblins are excited for the upcoming tricks and treats! It has been such fun to see the kids and teachers all decked out for Halloween. I hope to see everyone at Student Council’s Haunted House tomorrow.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Ms. Foltz and her 2nd Grade. Ms. Foltz is one of our new teachers, but you would never know it to see her in action. She exudes poise and grace, and she has such love for her students. This comes across in a multitude of ways, but the warmth that she exhibits is so sincere. “...[L]et us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God” (1 John 4:7).
I would also like to shine a light on our 2nd Grade students. Yesterday, they led us in a Prayer Service, and I was so impressed with their confidence and enthusiasm as they read their parts. It’s not easy to speak in front of a large group of people, and they did a wonderful job. I think I might have them as my spokespeople from now on!
Student Council Haunted House
Don’t forget that our Student Council will be hosting their first Haunted House on Saturday, 10/30 from 6:00PM-8:00PM. This event is geared towards all ages, so please consider stopping by. There will be games and activities, and all proceeds will go towards Student Council’s project Lunches for Local Leaders. Student Council is requesting a $5.00 donation per family. All attendees must wear a mask.
Due to insurance liability issues, we cannot allow children/families who are not HFS students to attend this event.
Conferences
Conferences should be underway at this point. They are not required, but it is a good idea to check in with your child(ren)’s teachers to make sure that they are doing well, or if they are in need of academic support. If you haven’t heard from your child(ren)’s teacher(s), please reach out to them.
Lunch Volunteers
We are always in need of lunch volunteers. If you are able to commit to specific days and/or times, please call the office. Thank you to those of you who have provided coverage so far, but we always have spots open. If you are able to give of your time, our teachers and students would be so grateful. Please note that you must be on the Approved Chaperone List to volunteer in any capacity. Click here to sign up.
Uniform Exchange
If you have any gently used uniform pieces that you’re looking to upgrade for size, please feel free to bring them into the Uniform Exchange. We are looking, in particular, for long sleeved golf shirts. If you have ‘em, we want ‘em!
Attachment
Please see the attached flyer from Home and School. They are having a Pies and Poinsettias sale. Consider checking something off your to-do and purchase a yummy pie of festive poinsettia or both!
