Dear HFS Families,
It has been a busy week here at HFS! There were lots of celebrations surrounding Read Across America Week with our younger students. There was pajama-wearing, crazy hair and socks, and wacky Wednesday, just to name a few of the goings-on. We also had some HFS alumni from Pope John Paul High School come in to read to our PreK through 1st Grade students.
Today, Barn Hill Preserve visited us for 2 assemblies, and the studets learned all about the bearded dragon, tenrecs, corn snakes, chinchillas, and the Sulcata tortoise. The students had lots of questions, and then some of our students had the opportunity to have their pictures taken with them. What a fun morning!
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Emma R. in the 4th Grade. Emma is always such a pleasure to be around, and I love how she works hard to include everyone in whatever she’s doing. Yesterday, Emma brought a flamingo marionette into school with her. She was very happy to show any student who asked how it worked. She even initiated a poll to choose a name for the flamingo, and anyone who was interested was permitted to vote. I voted for Pickles, but Wilbur won out! Emma is a bright light amongst her peers. She includes everyone, and she has a beautiful soul. “[And] be kind to one another, compassionate,...” (Ephesians 4:32).
Terra Novas
Don't forget that Terra Novas began today and will continue into next week for students in 1st through 8th Grades. Please make sure your child(ren) gets plenty of rest, eats a good breakfast, and comes to school with 2-4 number 2 pencils, and a good eraser. Calculators are permitted for part of the Math section for some of the upper grade students, so please make sure you send in a calculator as well.

Holy Family School’s Centennial Celebration
As you already know, HFS is celebrating 100 years in Catholic education! What an accomplishment! To honor this momentous occasion, we are having an Open House at the Great American Pub in Phoenixville on Friday, March 24th. Current families and alumni are invited. This is a 21+ event, so get a babysitter and come join us for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Feel free to come and go as you please! Click here to reply.
Home and School Events
The International Festival is coming up on Sunday, 3/12. Please complete the attached flier to RSVP.
You will also find attached a flier for the Mother-Son event at the Delaware Blue Coats basketball game on Saturday, 3/25.
March Lunch Volunteers
We are looking for volunteers to join us for lunch duty in March. If you are interested and available, please click here to sign up.
Lenten Food Collection
Every year, Mrs. Seiverd and the 6th Grade hold a Lenten Food Drive to benefit the Norristown Food Pantry. Next week, we are asking that students bring in canned goods (soup, vegetables, etc.). Week 3 is pasta and sauce; and week 4 is prepared foods (boxed items, stuffing, hamburger helper, etc.). Please no glass jars!
The homeroom that brings in the most will win a Dress Down Day, and the runner up will win an ice cream party.
Uniform Reminders
This is yet another reminder to all families regarding the uniform policy.
