Dear HFS Families,
Happy Friday on this unexpectedly snowy day! It’s been a busy week here at HFS, and it’s going to be even busier next week with our Catholic Schools’ Week festivities. Ever since I was a student at St. Tim’s in Northeast Philadelphia, I have always loved Catholic Schools’ Week. It’s a time to really shine a light on what a gift Catholic education is, but I also love the fun and frivolity that come along with it. I am looking forward to the entire week, and I’m sure the students are too.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Mrs. Linda Gorman. I was visiting classrooms this week, and I happened to walk past and heard the students practicing their multiplication facts. I was quite impressed with what I heard, so I decided to pop in. They were practicing their 6, 7, and 8 times tables, and they really had them down! Some of the students were even working on their 11 and 12 times tables.
What really struck me the most was that the students were having fun! I have been in Mrs. Gorman’s room a number of times over the years, and I have to say that her methods of instruction just keep getting better and better. She knows how to educate her students, but she also finds ways to mix in a little fun to keep them engaged and wanting more. Kudos to you, Mrs. Gorman!
Open House
Catholic Schools’ Week kicks off on Sunday, January 30th. To celebrate, we will be holding our first Open House in quite some time. The building will be open from 10:00-12:00, and our teachers will be on hand to socialize with you and answer any questions you might have.
Please spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors, and feel free to bring a friend who might be interested. We’d love to meet them and show them what an HFS education is all about!
In addition to Open House, our students are one of the most effective marketing tools we’ve got. If you are attending Mass over the weekend, please have your child(ren) wear their uniforms to Mass and show their HFS pride!
Continuous Enrollment
Today is the day! If you haven’t completed the Continuous Enrollment form, please do so today. Signing up for Continuous Enrollment will guarantee your child a spot here at Holy Family School for the 2022-2023 school year.
Enrollment will remain open for all of our current families, but we are now opening enrollment to new families. We have had a number of inquiries, and we are in the process of planning for staffing and classroom assignments.
If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. McNerney (advancement@
Lunch Monitors
If you are on the Approved Chaperone List and can give us some time, we'd be so grateful if you could help our teachers monitor lunch recess. Click here to sign up, and as is always the case, we are grateful for any time you can give us!
Special thanks to those whom we lovingly call our steady enders. We would be lost without you!
