Dear HFS Families,
As always, it’s been another busy week here at HFS, and it’s hard to believe that we are approaching the end of January. Along with that comes CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK! We have a very full week of fun activities planned for the students as we celebrate Catholic Education across the country, but we are also looking forward to commemorating our centennial! What an honor it is to recognize 100 years of Catholic education in the Phoenixville community.
Principal’s Spotlight
There are a number of people I would like to shine a light on this week. As you all know, there was an unexpected power outage on Thursday afternoon, during which I was offsite. Mr. Nick Ireland and Mrs. Jamie McNerney were left in charge for the day, and they did not disappoint. Both of them remained calm, made sure that everyone was alright, and put in motion a plan to lead everyone through the remainder of the day. I am grateful to them both, as well as the rest of the faculty and staff, for taking charge and overseeing the dismissal of our students.
I would also like to shine a light on one of our students - 6th Grader Kieran Bachman. According to his teacher Mrs. Miscioscia, Kieran is always volunteering to help, and he doesn’t do this for recognition. He does it because he is a kind person. Mrs. Miscioscia also states that Kieran is full of joy, respectful, and he is a good role model for the entire class.
Catholic Schools Week Reminders
An itinerary was shared in last week’s posting, but please see below regarding how our students should be dressing this week.
Centennial Collection
As our Centennial year progresses, we have been trying to collect 100 items of a certain type each month. This month, we are trying to collect 100 cleaning wipes (Clorox, Lysol, etc.). These items are then donated to organizations within the Phoenixville community. Help us support the community which has supported us over the last 100 years!
Home and School Reminders
Thank You!
A note of thanks to all the students and adult volunteers who participated in this year's MLK Jr service event. We gratefully achieved our centennial goal of over 100 participants, creating over 100 Valentine's cards & 100 craft flowers that will be distributed to local seniors, hospital patients and patrons of Good Samaritan Services. Our youngest volunteers contributed their artistic talents to coloring pages mailed to senior citizens & military members, and our 3rd-5th graders created act of kindness posters and appreciation cards. Our 6th-8th graders, along with a few HFS alumni, showed great Panther pride by helping with cleaning projects & assisting the younger students with their crafts.
What a truly impressive turnout & list of accomplishments in just 2 hours, spreading love and good will as part of Holy Family School's centennial celebration year. An extra special thanks to the adults who helped lead the activities! We couldn't have done this without you!
Please don't forget the earlier email with at-home opportunities if you weren't able to join us in person. If you have creative additions to submit, please bring them in to the office by Friday, February 3rd.
