 What a week! Catholic Schools Week is always a busy week, and this year did not disappoint. Our Centennial was part of the theme for this year’s Catholic Schools Week, and we incorporated that into just about everything we could, from a Dancing through the Decades dress down day and dance party to our Academic Challenge to our culminating activity Panther Olympics. Lots of fun was had by all during our celebration, and continue to keep your eyes on our social media for more pictures.

Principal’s Spotlight

This week, I would like to shine a light on our Advancement Director Mrs. Mona Sabatino. Not only does Mrs. Sabatino work on promoting our school and touring new families, she also will help out in a variety of ways, from manning the front desk, helping the teachers when and where needed, and interacting with the students in a way that makes them feel safe and loved. We’re so blessed to have her!

I would also like to shine a light on the 5th Grade students. Earlier this week, Mrs. Sabatino toured a family looking for 6th Grade for next year. Our students interacted with him and his mom and made him feel so comfortable. He told his mom after the tour that he felt like “this is home.” Thank you to the 5th Grade boys and girls as well as their teachers for showing a prospective student and parent just what it feels like to be a part of the HFS community. “Do not neglect hospitality, for through it some have unknowingly entertained angels” (Hebrews 13:2).

Car Line Refresher

Once again, we are seeing some issues crop up with our car line. In order for car line to be safe and efficient, we ask that you adhere to the following:

• If you are traveling from Gay Street on Third Avenue toward Main Street, we ask that you please drop your children at the intersection of Third and Buttonwood.  Children should exit the car on the right, proceed to the sidewalk, and allow the crossing guard to cross them over to the school side of the street.  DO NOT MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN ONTO BUTTONWOOD, as it prohibits buses from making safe and timely drop offs and disrupts the flow of carline, causing delays!
• If you are traveling on Third from Main, make the right onto Buttonwood and pull up just past the telephone pole. Children should exit from the left side of the car and proceed to the sidewalk.  DO NOT ALLOW CHILDREN TO EXIT ON THE RIGHT AND CROSS BETWEEN CARS as this is extremely dangerous!
• Please do not get out of the car with your child(ren). This disrupts the flow of carline and the buses, and it leads to delays. The teacher on duty will assist the children when necessary.
• Please make sure your child(ren) has all necessary items with them in the car. No child should have to grab items from the trunk. This could be a potentially dangerous situation.

Uniform Reminders

This is a friendly reminder that CYO gear and Home & School spirit wear items are NOT part of the student uniform. For any questions regarding the uniform, please refer to the Student-Parent handbook.

Home and School Trivia Night

Home and School’s Trivia Night event is coming up on Saturday, February 25th. Tables are still available, and if you don’t have a team, Home and School will help get you together with one. Come join in the fun!
