Dear HFS Families,
I’d like to begin by thanking our 6th Grade students and Mrs. Miscioscia for the lovely prayer service this past Tuesday. It was a beautiful service, and it was so engaging for the entire congregation. It especially thrilled me to hear the 6th Grade students singing. One of my former principals always said that “singing is praying twice,” and our students certainly made sure to send up their voices. They made me so proud!
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Matthew D. in the 4th Grade. I have had the pleasure of getting to know Matthew since he was in the 1st Grade, and I have always enjoyed speaking with him. He’s funny, outgoing, and smart, just to name a few of his qualities. The other day, I was outside with 2nd through 4th Grade during recess. It was a beautiful day, and some of the students, including Matthew, were playing football. This is always a lively and fun game to watch. As one of the students was passing the ball, it happened to hit a 2nd Grader who just laughed it off, but Matthew immediately ran over to check on her and make sure she was ok. Something so simple makes such a difference! “So then, while we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, but especially to those who belong to the family of faith” (Galatians 6:10).
Holy Family School’s Centennial Celebration
As you already know, HFS is celebrating 100 years in Catholic education! What an accomplishment! To honor this momentous occasion, we are having an Open House at the Great American Pub in Phoenixville on Friday, March 24th. This is a 21+ event, so get a babysitter and come join us for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Click here to reply.
March Lunch Volunteers
As the weather is see-sawing back and forth between wintry and springy, we are looking for volunteers to join us for lunch duty in March. If you are interested and available, please click here to sign up.
Lenten Food Collection
Every year, Mrs. Seiverd and the 6th Grade hold a Lenten Food Drive to benefit the Norristown Food Pantry. Next week, we are asking that students bring in peanut butter and jelly. Please do not send in glass jars. Week 2 is canned goods (soup, vegetables, etc.); week 3 is pasta and sauce; and week 4 is prepared foods (boxed items, stuffing, hamburger helper, etc.). The homeroom that brings in the most will a Dress Down Day, and the runner up will win an ice cream party.
Request
While 8th Grade Graduation is still a few months away, we are beginning preparations. If any of our former graduates still have their maroon or white robes and would be willing to donate them, we would appreciate it.
