Dear HFS Families,
Happy Friday! The past week has been a relatively quiet one. The students and teachers are working hard on their lessons and their studies, and I’ve had a variety of opportunities to see them in action. I actually was able to sit in on an 8th grade debate this week during their elective with Mr. Ireland. I was really quite impressed with their composure and the research that they put into their topic. Once they were finished, the rest of the students took time to give them constructive feedback, and I was really blown away by how much these young men and women have matured since September. I am so proud of how they have grown, and I look forward to seeing that continue through the rest of the year
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Smith. Mrs. Garcia and Mrs. Smith teach PreSchool and PreK, respectively. They have our youngest learners with them everyday, and I am simply amazed at the growth I have seen in these students since September. I love visiting those classrooms because I am greeted with the purest love from the children, and I truly enjoy seeing them interact with one another during centers and circle time. “Certainly sons [and daughters] are a gift from the Lord, the fruit of the womb, a reward” (Psalms 127:3).
Continuous Enrollment
This is a friendly reminder that we are still in the process of registration. If you have not signed up for Continuous Enrollment yet, please do so. This is an easy way to guarantee that your child(ren) has a spot reserved for them from now through their 8th Grade year. If this is something that you’re not interested in or you do not plan on returning to HFS for the 2022-2023 school year, please complete the Opt Out form.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Advancement Director, Mrs. McNerney or the principal, Mrs. D’Amelio.
Reminders
This is a reminder that virtual days are only permitted for Covid-related illnesses. If your child is sick, please keep them home and allow them a sick day to rest and recuperate. All virtual requests must be emailed to Mrs. D’Amelio at jdamelio@myholyfamilyschool.org.
With that being said, we are re-evaluating our policy regarding virtual days. Please keep an eye out for information on that sometime next week.
Archdiocesan Wellness Policy
As per the Archdiocesan Wellness Policy, food items are not permitted as treats for birthdays. If you feel the need to send in something for your child(ren)'s birthday(s), stickers, pencils, and dollar store novelties are always an acceptable option.
Masks
Even though masks are optional in the school building, please continue sending your child(ren) in with a spare mask or two. Students are required to wear masks on the bus. Our mask supply is limited, and we cannot continue to supply students with masks. If they do not have a mask, they might not be permitted to ride the bus as this is a federal mandate.
If your child(ren) receives services through the Chester County Intermediate Unit, he/she will need to wear a mask during that time.
Additionally, we are still requiring that the students and staff wear their masks while in church or the chapel, regardless of vaccination status. If and when this changes, I will let you know.
February Lunch Monitors
We are in desperate need of lunch and recess monitors over the course of this month. Our teachers have been picking up the slack when we don’t have enough coverage, but if you find that you have some time and are on the Approved Chaperone List, please consider volunteering. Click here to see what’s available.
Upcoming Dates
2/21/2022 Presidents’ Day/No School
I hope you all enjoy the long weekend!
Peace and Joy,
Mrs. Jennifer D’Amelio
