Dear HFS Families,
Can you believe that Halloween is tomorrow? While everything looks a little different this year, I am excited to be heading out with my family for some socially distant and safe Trick or Treating tomorrow evening. It will be nice to celebrate something that many of us have come to take for granted until recently. With that in mind, I hope that you take a moment to read through some safety reminders regarding Halloween further into my posting.
Teacher Spotlight
This week, I am shining the spotlight on Ms. Emily Schreiner. Ms. Schreiner is our Technology teacher, and she has been our Wonder Woman over the last several weeks. She is working hard not only to teach our students the ins and outs of our Learning Management Systems and the technology curriculum, but she is also supporting the tech needs of our staff - and they have been many, as I’m sure you can imagine. Thank you, Ms. Schreiner, for your constant support!
Student Council Installation
On Thursday, our 2020-2021 Student Council was installed. Mrs. Miscioscia planned a beautiful prayer service for our students, and we are so grateful that we were able to acknowledge them in a meaningful way. We are looking forward to all the great things that they will do this year. “Do nothing out of selfishness or out of vain glory; rather, humbly regard others as more important than yourselves” (Philippians 2:3).
Congratulations to our Executive Board President Patrick M; Vice President Abby G; Commissioner of School Spirit and Stewardship Peter G; and Treasurer Brendan B.
Uniforms
Winter uniforms begin on Monday, 11/2. Please consult the student handbook regarding the required pieces.
On a related note, I realize that classrooms are chillier than usually due to keeping windows open as per the Chester County Department of Health guidelines; however, students should only be wearing Holy Family apparel. This includes HFS sweatshirts and jackets. Click here to visit our Squad Locker store to check out the large variety of items from which to choose. You can also check out our Uniform Exchange which has a large selection of gently used items.
Continuous/Automatic Re-Enrollment
While it seems somewhat early to be discussing the 2021-2022 school year, we are in the beginning stages of making plans for next year. In order to be as efficient and conscientious as possible, we are beginning the enrollment process sooner rather than later. This will allow us to plan for staffing and the purchase of materials.
Our plan is to move to a model that automatically re-enrolls our families, eliminating that step in the process for you. Your SmartTuition account will be charged the $250 registration fee in the new year. If you wish to opt out of this program, you may certainly do so. If you do not have a SmartTuition account, a paper bill will be sent home and you can send a check to the office.
Click here for more information. Please submit your enrollment intention by December 22, 2020.
Halloween Door Decorating and Parade
Spirits have been high here today at HFS! The students and teachers have worked so hard to create an exciting atmosphere for Halloween. I am amazed at the effort, creativity, and enthusiasm that has gone into the door decorating contest. Please see below for our winners.
I loved seeing our students moving through the building to judge the various doors. While it wasn’t our traditional parade, I enjoyed seeing them in their costumes. I could see the smiles in their eyes!
