Dear HFS Families,
Here we are at the end of April. Can you believe it? While the year is beginning to wind down, things are ramping up here at HFS. Keep on reading to get all the deets! (That’s how all the cool kids say “details.” Haha!)
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to spotlight the office ladies - Mrs. Stephanie Bahr, Mrs. Corinne Martino, Mrs. Jamie McNerney, and Mrs. Erin Gallagher. These women are such an integral part of the day-to-day runnings of HFS, and we would be lost without them. That doesn’t even include the fact that they have to keep me in check! I am forever grateful to these women, as they are more than my colleagues. They have become great friends.
May Procession
Our annual May Procession will be held on Wednesday, 5/12. This year’s service will be a scaled-back version to keep it as safe as possible.
Students in 2nd grade should arrive to school wearing their First Holy Communion dresses/suits. Please have your child’s regular uniform of the day in a labeled bag. Following the procession, the office staff and teachers will oversee the change back to school clothes. The Communion clothing will be neatly folded and returned to the labeled bag...we promise!
Students in 8th grade will wear their graduation gowns. Please have them steamed/pressed and looking their best. The boys should wear a shirt, tie, pants, and dress shoes - no sneakers. The girls should wear a white/light-colored dress/skirt and practical shoes. No flip flops. Please make sure your children bring their school uniforms, for that particular day’s schedule, to change into once the service is finished.
Graduate pictures will be taken after the May Procession on the steps of the Church, weather permitting. Pictures will be taken with gowns on and gowns off.
A professional photographer will also be taking individual pictures. Please use the envelopes that we sent home to place your orders.
Because we are still in the middle of a pandemic, parents cannot be permitted to attend the service, but we will livestream it. That information will be sent out closer to the date of the event.
Lenten Food Drive
I would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to all of you. Your contributions to the 6th Grade Lenten Food Drive was a huge success! Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and because of you, many people had access to food they might not have had otherwise.
I would also like to thank Mrs. Seiverd and the 6th Grade for their enthusiasm and hard work in putting this together. I see great things being done in our school, and I thank our teachers, students, and parents for everything that they do.
Lunch Parent Volunteers
As I said, the year is beginning to wind down, but our students are winding up! The days have been beautiful, and they are truly enjoying getting outside and playing. With that being said, we are still in need of volunteers during our lunch recesses. If you have some time to spare, our teachers would be very grateful...maybe they’ll even give your kids some bonus points if you volunteer your time! Wink. Wink. Click here to sign up.
HFS Swag
Home and School has been busy working on a variety of projects to benefit HFS, and they have been pretty successful. There’s another one that I think you’re going to like.
Home and School has designed some HFS Summer Swag! An Option C email went out earlier today with the items available and pricing. Orders are due by Monday, 5/10. Don’t be left out, and make sure you order your swag for the summer!
