Spring is in the air! We’ve been enjoying some beautiful weather this week, and I am thrilled that we’ve had more sun than rain. It looks like it’s going to be chilly again this weekend, but that’s ok. I don’t think I’m quite ready to give up my sweaters and sweatshirts just yet. Our students, however, are definitely ready to give them up. I love the joy on their faces when they’re told they don’t need to wear their coats and jackets during recess. It’s the little things!
We are ending our first full week of Lent, and in addition to giving up something, I also decided to do something to work on strengthening my relationship with God. I decided to say the Rosary every day. It has been such a peaceful time for me, reflecting on the Mysteries of the Rosary and offering up those prayers to God for a number of special intentions. Quite often, I find myself continuing to enjoy the silence and reflection even after I have finished saying the Rosary. “Let us then pursue what leads to peace and to building up one another” (Romans 14:19). I hope that you too can find some time for reflection during this Lenten season.
Spotlight This week, I shine the spotlight on Mrs. Linda Gorman. As I was visiting classrooms this week, I had the opportunity to see the 3rd Grade in action working the 9 Times Table. I was quite impressed as the students shared with me all the patterns they picked up on while learning these math facts. I remember a trick of my own from when I was in school, and I was thrilled to learn some new ones. Mrs. Gorman’s students were engaged, learning, and having fun all at the same time. Keep up the great work 3rd Grade and Mrs. Gorman!
