Dear HFS Families,
Happy Friday! Our students have wrapped a week of Terra Nova testing, and I would imagine that they are feeling relieved. They worked so hard, and we are proud of the efforts they expended in taking the tests and doing their best. Next week, we will return to a more normal schedule.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on the Chester County IU staff here at HFS. Mrs. Caplan (guidance), Ms. Pesta (reading support), Ms. Hevel (math support), and Mrs. Walsh (speech and language support) are such an integral part of our team. Not only do they provide support for our students in a variety of areas, they also collaborate with our teachers on a daily basis. They are consistently communicating with one another and offering suggestions to teachers on ways in which to better support their students academically, socially, and emotionally. All of us here at HFS are grateful for these ladies and their expertise!
Cyber Day
Our next Cyber Day is coming up on Wednesday, 3/24. Teachers will provide their students with assignments for that day. These assignments should be completed and submitted according to the teachers’ directions. Below is a reminder of expectations for Cyber Day.
Staffing Update
I am saddened to share with you that Mrs. Julie Casas, for personal reasons, has tendered her resignation effective end of the school day Tuesday, April 6th. This was an incredibly difficult, but unavoidable decision for her to make. We thank her for her service and wish her well in her future endeavors. We will miss her.
While this is a most unusual and unfortunate situation, please know that I have already spoken with a potential candidate, and I have another contact with whom to speak as well. I will keep you informed throughout the search process as we seek to provide your children the consistent instruction they require.
HFS CYO Blood Drive
For the 3rd year running, Holy Family School’s CYO has organized a blood drive in support of Maren’s Fierce Fighters and The Rebecca Melvin Foundation. Both of these organizations are close to the CYO family and the Phoenixville community.
The American Red Cross will be here on Wednesday, March 24th from 2-7PM in Griffin Hall. Click here if you are interested in registering. Given that we are still in the midst of the pandemic, the American Red Cross has implemented new procedures and safeguards to protect their donors. Click here for more information.
Lunch Parent Volunteers
We are still in need of help with our recess monitors. If you have any time available, and you can offer your services to monitor the children during their recess, it would be greatly appreciated. Our teachers would be so grateful. Click here to see what days are available.
Lenten Food Drive
Mrs. Seiverd and her 6th grade class worked so hard these last 4 weeks to promote their Lenten Food Drive. They had a goal of collecting 2,000 pieces of food, and I am thrilled to say that they have exceeded their goal! Great job, Mrs. Seiverd and 6th Grade! Many thanks to our HFS students and families for their generous support! “Whoever cares for the poor lends to the Lord, Who will pay back the sum in full” (Proverbs 19:17).
