Dear HFS Families,
It’s JUNE! We are down to our final days of the 2020-2021 school year. It’s always an exciting time of year, but this year in particular, it rings sweeter than it ever has before. I hope and pray that we continue to move onward and upward, and keep reading for some VERY exciting information from our Secretary for Elementary Education, Dr. Andrew McLaughlin.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Mrs. Miscioscia. As many of you already know, Mrs. Miscioscia is our 5th/6th Grade Math and ELA teacher. Her love of Math always amazes me, and it’s so wonderful for her students to be a witness to that. Her enthusiasm is contagious!
I would also like to point out that Mrs. Miscioscia is our Student Council moderator. She has led her Executive Board and Homeroom Representatives through a difficult year, and they didn’t disappoint! Under Mrs. Miscioscia’s guidance, they were able to lead our school during a pandemic, all the while eliciting love and spirit for HFS.
Staffing Update
It is with a bittersweet feeling in my heart that I share with you that our beloved Mrs. Vickrey has decided that it’s time for her ride off into the sunset of retirement. This was not an easy decision for Mrs. Vickrey. She has been an integral part of HFS for more than 20 years, AND she has been working in the field of education for more than 40 years! What a blessing that we have been the recipients of that love, joy, and wisdom for half of her career.
We would love to send Mrs. Vickrey out in style with a big party, but her desires and continued Covid protocols dictate that we celebrate on a smaller scale within the faculty. I do ask that you take a moment to share your fond memories and words of encouragement with Mrs. Vickrey. She meant so much to so many for so long! We are better people for having known her! “Let love be sincere…” (Romans 12:9).
