Dear HFS Families,
The season of Advent has arrived, and we are preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. This is such an exciting time for a variety of reasons, but it is also an incredibly blessed time. It’s so easy to get distracted with all of the things we have to do this season, but let’s try to remember to keep Jesus at the center of all we do this Advent season. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him might not perish but might have eternal life” (John 3:16).
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Mrs. Mary Beth Horner. Mrs. Horner is our STEAM teacher, and I love going into her class to see what kinds of interesting projects she is working on with the students. Her lessons are always so engaging, and I love that she works on incorporating vocabulary and elements of the Scientific Method into her lesson rather than just presenting something “fun” to do. Not only are her students having fun, but they are also learning how to collaborate with others, analyze directions, and become critical thinkers.
Annual Fund
I would like to thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for the generosity you have shown this past Giving Tuesday. Your contributions to the Annual Fund raised over $23,000! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Christmas Pageant
We are so excited to announce that HFS will be holding their annual Christmas Pageant on Tuesday, 12/14 at 1:15PM and again at 7:00PM. This beloved event will take place in St. Ann’s Chapel. Students will be in their uniforms for both presentations, but they may “jazz it up” with Christmas accessories - socks, tights, ties, headbands, jewelry, etc.
While we aren’t requiring students to attend the evening performance as we know that this is a busy time of year, the students are strongly encouraged to be in attendance, if possible. Students should plan to arrive between 6:30 and 6:45PM.
Families are welcome to attend, but remember that space is limited in the chapel. Seating will be first come, first served. As per the current mask mandate, this will be a masked event, regardless of vaccination status. We hope to see you all there!
Home and School News
Home and School’s Family Bingo Night is coming up tomorrow, December 4th, and it should be a fun night for all! Doors open at 6:00PM. Water and light snacks will be sold, and there will be some extra daubers for sale as well. Yours truly will be calling a few rounds, and I hope to see you there!
As we all know, December can be a busy month. Why don’t you give yourself the night off from cooking once in a while? Iron Hill in Phoenixville is partnering with Home and School to give back to HFS. Show the attached flyer to your server, and HFS will receive 20% from your food bill. This partnership will be taking place every Tuesday for the month of December - 12/7, 12/14, 12/21, and 12/28.
Fifth and Sixth Grade Sock Collection
The 5th and 6th Grade students are currently collecting socks for the poor. If you are able to donate a pack of new socks, it would be greatly appreciated. It’s a small thing that could make someone’s day.
