Principal's Post August 5,2022

Dear HFS Families,

It is difficult to believe that August has arrived, but here we are! While many of you are still enjoying the lazy days of summer, the office staff and I have been working hard to begin getting ready for the 2022-2023 school year. Books have started arriving, and some of our teachers have begun trickling in to say hello or begin getting their classrooms ready for you.

Office Hours

This is a friendly reminder that our office hours have changed this month. We are open Monday through Friday between 9:00AM and 2:00PM.

Uniform Exchange

Our uniform exchange has lots of options for those of you who might need some items. Even though our gym uniform is now purchased through Flynn O’Hara, it is a transitional year. If you still have Squad Locker items, the students may use them for this year.

Staffing Update

I neglected to mention one of our newest staff members in my last posting - Mrs. Carolyn Cucinotta. Mrs. Cucinotta stepped in as our long-term substitute in PreSchool last year, and she will be joining us as the PreSchool teacher for the 2022-2023 school year.

I also recently hired Mrs. Janell Lamperti as our newest PreK teacher. She joins us with several years of experience as a PreK teacher, and we are very much looking forward to working with her this year.

I am still seeking applicants for the following positions:

• Technology and 4th Grade Math Teacher
• Honors Math Teachers for Grades 4-8
• Aides for our PreSchool and PreK programs

HFS Lunch Program

The federal program for free lunches for every child has ended.  We will again start charging for daily lunches for students in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.  Each lunch will cost $4 and each extra pizza slice will be $1.  PreSchool and Pre-K are not eligible to purchase lunch. 

The government will still be offering free lunches for those who qualify.  Please take a look at the following guidelines to see if you are eligible for free lunches.  It’s easy to find out, easy to apply, and risk free. Income eligibility guidelines are available online and are based on your household size and income level.

Please contact our cafeteria manager, Mrs. Nemceff, at dnemceff@myholyfamilyschool.org if you have questions about the free lunch program.

Our September Lunch Order Form will be posted on our website and our Facebook page on Monday, 8/8. It will also be sent out via Option C.                  Artome

There are still Artome items in the cafeteria that need to be picked up. We will keep them in the cafeteria for 1 more week. The office is open Monday through Friday between 9 and 2. For any items that are not picked up next week, you will need to make arrangements with the office to pick them up.       Health Forms

The School Health Law of PA requires:  

• Physicals with Immunization updates required for students in grades Kindergarten, 6 and New Students 
• New  & Transfer In Students:  A Record of Immunizations must be presented prior to the start of school.  Students must have received at minimum the 1st dose of each vaccine.  Consecutive doses are to be received at the proper time according to the PA Department of Health and Physicians orders.  

• Dental Reports required for students in grades K, 3, 7 and New Students
• New Students:  a Medical/Emergency Form is needed. 
• Current Students: Please update this form when information changes.

All Health Forms are found on the HFS Web Site under Current Families.  Click on Current Families.  On the left side, under Forms, Health Forms are available.  Please return forms to the Health Room. If you have questions or concerns, please email Mrs. Mancini at Healthroom@myholyfamilyschool.org.

Back to school is approaching, and I have to say that I’m beginning to get excited. I have missed seeing your children everyday, and I have missed the camaraderie of our staff. I look forward to seeing everyone soon, but in the meantime, keep an eye on your emails as my Principal’s Postings will be coming more regularly.
