Divorce Group Permission Letter

 
Dear Parent or Guardian,
 
     I will soon be forming counseling groups for children in kindergarten through eighth grade whose parents are separated or divorced.  The primary purpose of the group is to let children know that they are not alone in this situation.  Also, the group provides a safe and confidential place to discuss feelings and concerns.
 
     Your child does not need to be having problems to benefit from the group.  As children move through each developmental stage, different issues concerning separation, divorce and remarriage arise and need to be addressed.  It is helpful to take advantage of any opportunity to open lines of communication for your child.
 
     The group will meet once a month, usually on Mondays, for the entire school year.  We will meet during lunch, so no class time will be missed.
 
     Some of your children have participated in this group in the past. If you are interested in having your child newly participate or be a part of the group again discuss this with him/her, then please sign and return the form below.  His/her classroom teacher will make sure it is given to me.  Children are welcome to join the group at any time during the school year if the need arises.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
