Cyber Day - Friday, May 21, 2021 - School Packet
Hello Third Grade,
Welcome to our final Cyber Day! Attached are several activities that must be completed and returned to school on Monday, May 24th. The activities will be graded and recorded as our Friday work.
For this cyber day, you have only 2 assignments to complete; but we have 3 projects due for the end of the year. You should spend the remaining time working and completing your projects. Reminders for upcoming project due dates and tests are below.
Activity #1 (ELA / Social Studies / Science) - Scholastic Magazine Packet
Read the Scholastic Magazine from cover to cover. We will be working in the April 26th issue. This issue contains articles about dogs, being a kid reporter, chilling out and more. Instructions on how to access the magazine online are attached to the Scholastic packet. After reading the articles don’t forget to watch the fun videos, including the teaching resources, and play the games that are available to you.
Once you have read the magazine, you will be completing 5 worksheets that are included in the packet. Everyone will be completing 4 of the same worksheets. The first one is “Be a Quiz Whiz!” There are a total of 10 questions about the stories that are included in the magazine. Make sure to go back to the articles to find your answers.Beside each question is the page number where the information to answer the question can be found. You will also be completing 2 worksheets about the article “Dogs on Duty” and one worksheet about the article “Chill Out”. For the last worksheet, you have a choice. You can choose to answer the “Close Reading” questions on the “Chill Out” article or the “Dogs on Duty” article. Be sure to refer back to the article you chose to help you complete each question or fill in.
When doing the “Close Reading” worksheet, please remember to use complete sentences. A one or two word answer is not acceptable. Remember you are big kids getting ready for 4th grade. To answer each question, you should be writing 3 or more sentences. Remember - A sentence is a complete thought which has a subject and a verb. Remember to take your time and go back to the articles to find your answers. Use the tools you have and do your best.
Activity #2 - Math
We have completed chapter 12 in our math book and are getting ready for our math test on Monday. Complete the Check Your Progress in the packet. This is a review for our fraction test on Monday. If you need additional space, you can use the back of the worksheet or attach another piece of paper. Make sure to follow all the directions and show your work. If you only provide an answer, points will be deducted from the assignment.
