Dear HFS Families,
It’s hard to believe that it’s the end of September, but here we are! The weather is feeling more autumnal, and the students have settled into their routines. As I walk through the halls and visit classrooms, I’m getting to know all of our students better, and it reminds me just how much I enjoy interacting with your children. “Certainly [children] are a gift from the Lord…” (Psalms 127:3).
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on our Student Council Executive Board - President Joey F, Vice President Jude S, Secretary Quinn L, Treasurer Aidan P, Commissioner of School Spirit Jack S, and Marketer Charlie L. I am so impressed with the drive of these young men. They have taken on their roles with enthusiasm, dedication, and purpose. For their very first fundraiser, they selected Penn State’s THON as the recipient. For those who are not familiar with THON, it is an organization “student-run philanthropy committed to enhancing the lives of children and families impacted by childhood cancer. Our mission is to provide emotional and financial support, spread awareness, and ensure funding for critical research—all in pursuit of a cure.” Click here for more information.
President Joey and his board members challenged our students to raise $500 for this worthy organization. In return, Joey promised to shave his head, and he kept his word. Keep an eye on our Facebook page to see the pictures!
Our students and families did not disappoint! You very generously raised $1,680 - more than triple the amount our Executive Board had hoped for! On behalf of the Student Council, I would like to thank you all for your support and generosity. I can’t wait to see what else our Student Council does this year!
Home and School’s Fall Fest
Home and School’s Fall Fest is coming up in a couple of weeks. This will be one of the first Home and School events to be held at the school since before Covid. Needless to say, we’re all really looking forward to it.
If you haven’t signed up yet, don’t forget to do so. There are a variety of ways in which you can participate - from sponsoring a trunk or treat table to helping set up, to donating needed items. Click here to see what’s available. If you haven’t RSVP’d yet, you can click here to do so. Come out and join us for a great time!
Aides and Substitutes
We are looking for anyone who might be interested in being an aide for PreSchool/PreK or a substitute teacher in our K-8 classrooms. Both are incredibly rewarding experiences! If you’re interested, please contact me at jdamelio@myholyfamilyschool.
Lunch Volunteers
I’d like to thank everyone who has signed up to help with lunch over the last couple of weeks. It is greatly appreciated. If you are interested in committing to this on a more regular basis, please contact Mrs. McNerney at office@myholyfamilyschool.org. If you are only able to sign up once in a while, we’ll take that too. Click here to see what days and times are available for the month of October. Just a reminder that clearances are required.
