Dear HFS Families,

It was such a pleasure to see so many of you and your children at our Sneak Peek on Wednesday. This was a great  way to reconnect with everyone and to meet our new families. I can’t wait to see everyone back together next week!

Staffing Update

I am thrilled to share that we have hired a new PreSchool teacher. Her name is Mrs. Elisabeth Orr, and she will begin with us on Monday, 9/19. During this time, Mrs. Cucinotta and her aides will handle both PreSchool classrooms. Because the PreSchool room in Griffin Hall is on the smaller side, Mrs. Cucinotta will work out of the classroom in the main building. Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures

With our first day of school quickly approaching, all families should be aware of our procedures and some minor changes.

K-8 Students

• The cafeteria doors open at 7:45AM. Students will not be allowed into the building until that time. Please do not drop off your child without seeing he/shehim/her enter the building.
• Students will enter the building through the cafeteria door on Buttonwood Street.
• Doors close at 8:10. After 8:10, a parent must ring the bell at the main doors and sign in his/her child in the office.
• Any Kindergarten student who is half day will eat lunch with his/her class at 10:55, and they will be dismissed to the office. Parents should pick up their child in the office.
• Dismissal begins at 3:00PM. 
• Students who are care riders will be escorted out to the fenced in blacktop next to the original building. Parents are asked to wait INSIDE the fenced area as it makes it easier for the teacher on duty to keep track of the students.
• Parents may park in the Griffin Hall lot and on the street during drop off and pick up. There is no parking permitted on the school side of the street.

PreSchool/PreK Students

• PreSchool and PreK student drop off for students in Mrs. Lamperti’s class, Mrs. Cucinotta’s and Mrs. Orr’s classes is from 8:00-8:20 at the breezeway doors located between the main building and the original building. A teacher/aide will be at the door to greet you and your child. 
• Drop off for Mrs. Smith’s class is at the Griffin Hall door during the same time frame.
• PreSchool and PreK parents may walk their children into the building for the first week, only if necessary.
• Dismissal from the AM session is at 11:15AM. Parents will pick up their children at the same door as drop off.
• Parents may park on the street.

September Lunch Volunteers

It looks like we’ve got a nice bunch of volunteers signed up for September lunches, but there’s still plenty of opportunities to sign up. Keep in mind that your volunteer time on the playground and in the lunch room provides the teachers with the necessary time to eat lunch and recharge for the afternoon session. If you’d like to volunteer your time and help monitor lunches and recesses, please sign up here! Snacks

Please make sure to pack your children snacks and a filled water bottle. Students in K-2 should bring 2 snacks, and students in 3-8 should have 1 snack.

Facetime Theatre

Our local community theatre, Facetime Theatre, will once again offerafter school performing arts classes for HFS students in grades K-4.  These will be happening in our HFS Music room on Mondays after school, from 3:15-4:00pm, starting on Monday, September 19.  Please see the attached flier for more information. 

Band

Our Band program is back again this year, and it is open to students in 4th through 8th Grades. There will be a demonstration on Friday, 9/10 for the students, and a virtual meeting will be held for parents on Monday, 9/12 at 6:30PM. Please click here to join. Forms

All new PreSchool and PreK students need to have their current immunizations on file in the Nurse’s Office. Click here for more information. Please obtain the most recent copy from your pediatrician, and send it to healthroom@myholyfamilyschool.org. 

Our revised Student-Parent Handbook was sent out one of my last postings. Don’t forget to read the handbook and complete the necessary forms at the end of the handbook. They are due back in the office on Friday, 9/16.

Our Home and School parents recently shared our teachers’ Amazon Wish Lists. If you’re feeling so inclined, take a look at some of the items they’re hoping to score for their classrooms. The lists are attached.
