Dear HFS Families,
Nathaniel Hawthorne once said, “I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house.” How true these words are! On Halloween evening, my son and I were trick or treating, and the sun had just set, but the sky was still tinged with pinks and purples amid some of the clouds. My son stopped and pointed out the colors, and he reminded me why I love the Fall so much. For whatever reason, the sunrises and sunsets seem even more beautiful at this time of year. “The heavens declare the glory of God; the firmament proclaims the works of His hands” (Psalm 19:2). I hope you are taking the time to notice the beauty that surrounds us.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine the light on Mrs. Laura Miscioscia. In addition to teaching Math and Science to our 5th, 6th, and 8th Grade students, she is also our Student Council moderator. She devotes so much of her time and energy to those young men and women, and she is a model for them in her devotion to God and her faith. I am grateful that she is a member of our staff, and I am even more appreciative of the time she takes to lead our students.
I would also like to shine a light on our Student Council, our 8th Grade, and all of the student and parent volunteers who helped put together and run our first ever Haunted House. I had the pleasure of attending the event, and I was so surprised by what our students and parents had created. It was a fun night touring through the haunted house, playing games, and hanging out with the HFS families. I hope that this becomes an annual event.
Open House
On Monday, 11/15, we will be hosting an Open House from 10AM-1PM. The purpose of this event is to allow prospective families to see our teachers and students in action. I have attached a flyer that I am asking you to share with family and friends, and please post it on your social media pages.
Lunch Volunteers
We are always in need of lunch volunteers. If you are able to commit to specific days and/or times, please call the office. Thank you to those of you who have provided coverage so far, but we always have spots open. If you are able to give of your time, our teachers and students would be so grateful. Please note that you must be on the Approved Chaperone List to volunteer in any capacity. Click here to sign up.
Lunch Menus
December lunch menus have been posted. They are due on Thursday, 11/11. Please make sure you get them in on time. Click here for the menu.

Continuous Enrollment
Last year, we updated our re-registration process a bit with the intention of making additional changes this year. Once again, we will be looking to have most, if not all, of our students re-registered for the 2022-2023 school year by December 22nd. This will help us to plan for the next school year more efficiently.
Additionally, we are moving to a format called Continuous Enrollment. In a nutshell, this will make your lives easier by eliminating forms for you to complete. We are currently working on the logistics and adding it to our website. Keep your eyes peeled for details in the next couple of weeks.
