Dear HFS Families,
This week, we celebrated a much-loved tradition here at Holy Family School - the Living Stations. Each year, Mrs. Mary Mizii leads our 5th Grade students in this reverent telling of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This year was even more special as our 6th Grade had the opportunity to participate for the second year in a row. To say that I am proud of our students is an understatement. Their commitment to their roles and to their performances always amazes me.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on a few people.
First, I would like to spotlight Mrs. Mizii. Her dedication to the children and the Living Stations is beyond measure. The love she pours into this production is apparent each year, and that carries over with her students as well. They see the importance of this story of our faith, and they give their all to every aspect of this prayer service. In addition to her current students, there are a number of alumni who come back year after year to show their appreciation of Mrs. Mizii and their time in the Living Stations.
I would also like to spotlight Mrs. Abell. No matter what anyone needs, Mrs. Abell is always one of the first to jump right in and help. For the past few weeks, Mrs. Abell has been right by Mrs. Mizii’s side assisting with all of the technical aspects of the Living Stations as well as being a support along the way. There are many things that we couldn’t do with Mrs. Abell, and we are so grateful for all that she does for our HFS community.
Finally, Mrs. Miscioscia asked me to include Andrew C. in the 4th Grade in my spotlight. According to Mrs. Miscioscia, Andrew quietly and kindly goes out of his way to help his peers while in Math class. Andrew is patient with his classmates, he makes sure they understand what they need to do, and he will wait until he’s sure his classmate demonstrates an understanding of how to solve the problem. What a wonderful role model for all!
Lenten Food Drive
Our Lenten Food Drive for the Norristown Food Pantry ended last Friday, and as always, our students and their families didn’t disappoint! Our 3rd Grade came in first place with 389 items collected, and our 7th Grade came in second place with 370 items collected. Third Grade will enjoy a dress down day on whichever day Mrs. Gorman selects, and the 7th Grade will enjoy an ice cream treat! In total, the entire school donated 1,847 items!
While this is a fun competition amongst our students and teachers, this is also an incredibly important collection as so many people, including children, experience food insecurity in our area. We are so grateful to our families for their generosity in donating this year. Thank you!
Lunch Volunteers
We have a new month beginning tomorrow, and with that a new month to volunteer for lunch duty. While this winter hasn’t been too terrible, why not spend some extra time with your child(ren) and get some good ol’ fashioned vitamin D while in the process. Click here to sign up, and just as a reminder, you do need to have all clearances completed.
Yearbooks
Yearbook orders are due on April 7th, so please make sure you get your orders in! Click here to order yours.
Spring Uniforms
Spring uniforms begin when we return from Easter on Tuesday, 4/11. This does not mean your child(ren) must wear this uniform. If it is chilly out, please continue to wear the winter uniform.
Staffing Update
As you know, I have been searching for a candidate to replace Ms. DiCastenuovo in the 4th Grade. I shared with our 4th Grade families earlier this week that the position has been offered to Mrs. Jean Shavor. Mrs. Shavor comes to us with a Master’s Degree, she is a certified Reading Specialist, and she has an extensive background in working with students with special needs. She will begin on Monday, 4/3. We are excited to welcome her to HFS, and we look forward to working with her!
Today is Ms. D’s last day. We are grateful to have worked with her over the last few years, and we wish her luck in her next adventure.

As we prepare to go into Holy Week next week, let us remember that this is a celebration of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, which is at the heart of our faith. Take some time to reflect on Jesus’ messages, and recommit to following in his footsteps.
Peace and Joy,
Mrs. Jennifer D’Amelio
