Dear HFS Families,
Terra Nova testing has concluded on this beautiful Friday; however, we’ve got some interesting weather headed our way over the next 24 hours or so. Hopefully, this “gentle” reminder that spring has not quite sprung just yet will also remind us that we never know what God has in store for us. “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what any day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1). Let us go into each day with our hearts and minds open and ready for whatever might come our way.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students. One of their classmates, John P., suffered a mild concussion last week. When he arrives at school, our students have been greeting him with cheers each day. They might not even realize it, but those students are showing their classmates such a wonderful example of kindness and support.
I can’t even begin to tell you just how proud our students make me. The kindness that they show to one another is a beautiful thing. While our teachers strive to model and reinforce kindness to our students, this is something that comes from home. I want to thank you all for sharing your children with us. They are a joy to be around!
Continuous Enrollment
Registration is open for the 2022-2023 school year. If you have not signed up for Continuous Enrollment yet, please do so. This is an easy way to guarantee that your child(ren) has a spot reserved for them from now through their 8th Grade year. This process will allow you to skip the registration process for the remainder of your child(ren)’s time here at HFS.
If you are experiencing any difficulties in completing the form, please let us know. We are happy to walk you through it.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Advancement Director, Mrs. McNerney or the principal, Mrs. D’Amelio.
6th Grade Lent Food Collection
Each year, Mrs. Seiverd and the 6th Grade collect nonperishable food items throughout the Lenten season. The food items are collected by the Hibernan Hunger Drive and then distributed to the Patrician Society of Norristown through the Notre Dame Division 1. The homeroom that brings in the most food items wins a dress down day. The food item for next week is pasta and sauce (no glass jars, please).
March Lunch Volunteer Sign Up
We have seen a small number of parents jump in and sign up to be lunch volunteers this month, and we are very thankful for that; however, we still have many slots available. If you have any availability to help monitor the students during that time, we would be most grateful. By volunteering your time, teachers get to have a few minutes to eat their lunches and get ready for the afternoon session. Without volunteers, teachers are losing that precious time.
If you are on the Approved Chaperone List, click here to see what days and times are available. Any little bit helps! A big thank you to those of you who have been consistently giving of your time!
HFS CYO Blood Drive
The 4th annual HFS/CYO Blood Drive will be held today, Friday, March 11th from 2:30-7:30pm at the Technical College High School - Pickering Campus. There is currently a national blood shortage, and the American Red Cross could use our help.
Visit the American Red Cross website: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time?dt=WB:PL:DR:PM. Select the website link and type the Sponsor code: 'Maren Fierce Fighters', which will take you directly to the donation event to register. Give Back by Giving Blood!!!
