Dear HFS Families,
Happy Summer! It’s hard to believe that we are here yet again, but we did it. The end of the year is even sweeter given all that we had to endure over the past 15 months, but yet again, I couldn’t imagine having gotten through this with any other community. I am so proud of our students, staff, and families for all of the hard work they put in to keep our doors open. It truly was a group effort.
As always, the last week of school is a busy week. We celebrated our 8th Grade students at an in-person graduation Mass, which was so beautiful. They are an incredible group of young men and women, and I am honored to have worked with them. I look forward to seeing all the great things they do as they venture off into the world. Congratulations to the Class of 2021!
On Thursday, June 17th, we were able to celebrate our first and last Mass of the school year as a community. It was a bittersweet moment in that we were all finally together, but it was the last time of the school year. Even some of our students wanted Father Newns to extend his homily. This school Mass is a memory I will cherish.
Principal’s Spotlight
For the final spotlight of the year, I would like to spotlight the entire HFS community. This has been a highly unusual year, and the spirit, grace, and integrity shown by you all - teachers, students, and families - has been incredible. I am thankful for each and every one of you, and I look forward to working with you all in the next school year.
Staffing Updates
Yesterday during our closing liturgy, we said so long to a few of our faculty. I would like to extend my gratitude to Mr. Pendleton, Mr. Quattrochi, and Mrs. Vickrey.
Mr. Pendleton came to us during a difficult time and as a new teacher. He jumped right in and gave the students an outlet for their energy. He provided them with fun games and activities as well as health classes.
Mr. Quattrochi took on the 5th and 6th Grade, and having shared a wall with him, I could hear the learning and fun that took place in his room. His students loved him, and he was always someone on whom I could rely to help out when needed.
Mrs. Vickrey has decided to retire, and while we are so happy for her, we will certainly miss her smile and chats with all of us. It’s no wonder she had a constant line of children following her around yesterday, waiting for her to sign their yearbooks. She is loved beyond measure.
I’d like to wish Mr. Pendleton, Mr. Quattrochi, and Mrs. Vickrey luck in their future endeavors, and we hope to see you again someday. You will always have a home here at HFS.
Yearbooks
It has been brought to our attention that there are a number of yearbooks falling apart. Ms. Schreiner contacted the company, and they are printing a new batch for all of our families. They have extended their apologies to all who have been impacted. Once we receive confirmation of the shipment date, we will let you know so you can pick up your new copy. We apologize for this inconvenience.
Art Show
Normally, we would have had our annual Art Show at the end of May, but as it turns out, many of our students took a bit longer perfecting their pieces. With this in mind, we will have an online Art Show. Please see the attached flyers for details.
Postings and Summer Hours
Things tend to quiet down here in the office during the summer, so you might not see a Posting from me every week, but please continue to check your emails. We will be working all summer, and we will be checking emails regularly. Please check the calendar on the school website as it reflects any closures. Our summer hours are 9:00am - 2:00pm.
Again, thank you for a wonderful year. We wouldn’t have made it without you! “...I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, …” (Romans 1:8).
I hope you have a wonderful and safe summer, and I’ll see you soon!
Peace and Joy,
Mrs. Jennifer D’Amelio
