Dear HFS Families,
January is flying by very quickly, and I’m looking forward to Catholic Schools’ Week coming up at the end of this month. It’s always such a fun time, and we love showcasing all the wonderful things about Catholic education here at Holy Family School. As it gets closer, we will share details with you regarding the various activities in which the students and staff will be participating.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine the light on several teachers: Mrs. Guzman, Mr. Ireland, Ms. Vetter, Mrs. Layman, Mrs. Abell, Ms. Jarvis, and Mr. Peffle. Every year, these teachers work together to create electives for our 7th and 8th grade students. These electives offer students an opportunity to participate in a class which focuses on their interests or which will expand their horizons. “Train the young in the way they should go; even when old, they will not swerve from it” (Proverbs 22:6).
This year, they were ready to jump back into the swing of things and provide new and interesting experiences for the students. So far, students have been offered the following experiences: PNN, Holiday Movie study, Just Breathe, Faith and Sports, and Mixed Media 3D Art, just to name a few.
Open House
As I mentioned, Catholic Schools’ Week is quickly approaching, and we will be holding an Open House to kick it off on Sunday, January 30th. The building will be open from 10:00-12:00, and our teachers will be on hand to socialize with you and answer any questions some of our prospective families might have. Please spread the word to your family, friends, and neighbors. We’d love to meet them and show them what an HFS education is all about!
Continuous Enrollment
Thank you to all of you who have completed the Continuous Enrollment form. We are looking forward to the efficiency that this will bring year after year. If you have not already, please complete the Continuous Enrollment form by Friday, 1/28/2022. This will guarantee your child(ren) a spot for the 2022-2023 school year, and it will allow us to begin planning for the year as well. Click here to get started.
After that date, enrollment will open up to new families, and you risk losing your child(ren)’s spot. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. McNerney (advancement@
Office of Catholic Education Wellness Policy
As per the Office of Catholic Education, we strive to educate our children in body, mind, and spirit. Part of that education includes making healthy choices. To that end, we ask that families not send in food as a treat for their child(ren)’s birthdays. (I had a momentary lapse of memory and did allow some students to bring in treats when they should not have.)
If you would like to mark the occasion of your child(ren)’s birthday(s), perhaps a trip to the Dollar Store for items like pencils, stickers, and/or various other trinkets would be the better way to go. Thanks for your understanding.
Uniform Policy Reminder
Last year, we allowed our students to wear their Holy Family sweatshirts in the classrooms as there were windows open and fans on to help promote better air circulation. We are back to our regular uniforms this year. Sweatshirts should only be worn on gym days or as outerwear. If students are cold and would like a long-sleeve option, please consider purchasing a regulation jacket from Squadlocker. Click here to see the options listed under “Outer Wear” and Warm Ups.” Both maroon and black are acceptable.
Reminder
This is a reminder that students are not permitted back into the building after dismissal to get books that they have forgotten. We cannot guarantee that the teacher’s classroom will be unlocked, and we would also like our students to demonstrate responsibility and accountability in remembering their books, and owning up to it when they forget. It’s all a part of growing up!
