Dear HFS Families,
Happy Friday! Our teachers and students have been hard at work this week. I am seeing all kinds of projects on display, and I’m amazed at the growth in our students. It seems like it was yesterday that they walked into the building at the start of the school year, and now here we are - more than halfway through the year. I look forward to watching our kids continue to grow as we make our way towards June.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Ms. Brittany Lambert. Every time I walk into Ms. Lambert’s room, I am amazed at the love and affection I see among the students and their teacher. Ms. Lambert’s room is just one of my many favorite places to visit because of this. I can’t walk into that room without every single child jumping up and hugging me. (I actually need to brace myself against a wall on occasion because they have almost knocked me over!) The love and joy in that room starts at home, but it persists in its strength here at HFS too. The manner in which Ms. Lambert interacts with her students is a beautiful model to emulate. “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me” (Mark 9:36-37).
Terra Nova Testing
Terra Nova testing begins for students in 1st Grade through 8th Grade on Friday, March 4th and runs through Friday, March 11th. During this time period, it’s important that the students get enough rest each night and begin the day with a healthy breakfast.
6th Grade Lent Food Collection
Each year, Mrs. Seiverd and the 6th Grade collect nonperishable food items throughout the Lenten season. The food items are collected by the Hibernan Hunger Drive and are then distributed to the Patrician Society of Norristown through the Notre Dame Division 1. The homeroom that brings in the most food items wins a dress down day.
Please see the attached flier as each week’s food collection is a specific item.
Chester County Intermediate Unit Mask Update
If your child(ren) receives services through the CCIU (speech and language, math support, reading support, and/or guidance), their mask policy has been updated. Effective March 7th, masks will be optional for both students and teachers. Please see the attached letter.
March Lunch Volunteer Sign Up
We have had some lovely spring-like days over the last couple of weeks, allowing our students to be outside during lunch recess. If you have any availability to help monitor the students during that time, we would be so grateful. If you are on the Approved Chaperone List, click here to see what days and times are available. Any little bit helps! A big thank you to those of you who have been consistently giving of your time!
