Dear HFS Families,
It’s hard to believe that December is here, and the first week of Advent is coming to a close. During this blessed time of preparation, Pope Francis says that “Advent invites us to a commitment to vigilance, looking beyond ourselves, expanding our mind and heart in order to open ourselves up to the needs of people, of brothers and sisters, and to the desire for a new world.” These are words that we should all try to live by, especially at this time of year.
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on Mrs. Dorothy Nemceff. For those of you who might not know, Mrs. Nemceff oversees our breakfast/lunch and CARES programs. This is no easy feat! Mrs. Nemceff handles ordering the necessary food items, prepares those same items, and then more often than not, she distributes these meals to many of our students. On top of that, Mrs. Nemceff runs our before and after school CARES program. There are so many things that she does behind the scenes that help our staff and students in a variety of ways. We are so grateful that she’s ours!
Santa Shop
Next week is our annual Santa Shop hosted by the Home and School Association. Remember to send in your child's shopping money in the envelope provided and any angel donations for students in need in a separate envelope marked as such. We are still in search of volunteers, particularly for Monday morning. If you have any time you could spare to volunteer for a shift, please visit: bit.ly/santahfs . Thank you for your support!
Annual Fund
I am thrilled to announce that we have had yet another successful Giving Tuesday! Because of your generous contributions, $18,261 was raised. We are beyond thrilled! For those of you who have yet to contribute, it’s not too late! Click here for more information.
I would also like to share that we had 1 class with 100% participation in contributing to the Annual Fund…our 7th Grade! Because of their participation, they will win a week’s worth of dress down days! For any student(s) who had a family member contribute to the Annual Fund, they may have a dress down day on Tuesday,January 10th.. Finally, one lucky student will get to have lunch with a friend and the principal (ME!), and the winner is…Jameson in 1B! I will reach out to him and his family to make those arrangements. Congratulations to all, and thank you again for your support. We couldn’t do it without you!
HFS Christmas Pageant
Our K-8 students and staff are hard at work preparing for our annual Christmas Pageant. There will be 2 performances on Wednesday, 12/14. One will be at 1:15PM and the second will be at 7:00PM. Both performances will take place in St. Ann’s Chapel.
Students are expected to attend the evening performance, but we do understand if you have a commitment that will not allow your child(ren) to attend. Students will be in their school uniforms for both performances, but we highly encourage them to jazz it up with Christmas accessories.
We look forward to our students singing merrily and presenting the story of the season. We hope you and your family will join us for a fun and festive evening!
Centennial Activity
As part of our Centennial Celebrations, we are trying to collect 100 of something each month and then donate it to an organization within the Phoenixville community. This month, we are trying to collect 100 toys. If you are able to donate something inexpensive, it would be greatly appreciated.
January Lunch Menus
January Lunch Menus are due on Monday, December 12th. The menu is attached, and you may click here for payment.
Weather Reminder
Now that the weather is feeling colder, please don’t forget to send your child(ren) into school with the appropriate outerwear. Some of our students are going outside with just a sweatshirt or sometimes no jacket/coat at all.
