Dear HFS Families,
As time progresses, I need to share with you just how impressive you, your children, and our staff are. In the midst of a global pandemic, you all have come together in such a way that our family has only grown stronger. The kindness, concern, and generosity, to which I am a witness, bring me such peace, joy, and hope. We are HFS strong because of you, and we will continue to be HFS strong because of you. “May the Lord give might to His people; may the Lord bless His people with peace!” (Psalms 29:11).
Teacher Spotlight
The spotlight this week shines on Mrs. Susan Vickrey. While observing her class with the 3rd Grade this week, I couldn’t help but feel the passion and love Mrs. Vickrey has for being our librarian. Her enthusiasm spills over in everything that she does, and the children can’t help but delight in that. It was a joy to see the students participating in a lesson on couplets, and it was so much fun for me as I got to participate as well. Thank you for spreading the love, Mrs. Vickrey!
Lunch Survey
We are looking into the possibility of a free lunch program through our current provider. Please complete the survey to help us determine if this is a possibility. Click here to get started. Submissions are due by Wednesday, 10/28.
Cyber Day
Our next Cyber Day is coming up on Tuesday, 10/27. Teachers will provide their students with assignments for that day. These assignments should be completed and submitted according to the teachers’ directions. Below is a reminder of expectations for Cyber Day.
Teachers will communicate with you regarding the assignments to be completed.
Assignments will be posted on the teachers’ web pages on the school website and/or in Google Classroom.
Teachers will hold office hours for a short portion of the day to be available for any questions or concerns.
Office hours will be posted on the teachers’ web pages.
Students in grades K-4 should spend approximately 1-2 hours total on the assigned work.
Students in grades 5-8 should spend approximately 2-3 hours total on the assigned work.
Halloween Parade
Despite our inability to enjoy our traditional Halloween Parade this year, we will celebrate nonetheless!
Students in PreSchool through 4th Grade should wear their costumes to school and remain in them for the entire day. As we are unable to have parental help, this will make things a bit easier. Parents please be aware that our younger students will require easy access to the bathroom, so please consider this when choosing your child’s costume.
A schedule has been created in which students will parade through the school to see the Halloween-themed classroom doors, and the older students will still enjoy the pageantry from the comfort of their classrooms!
Keep an eye on our Facebook page as we will be sure to take plenty of pictures throughout the day!
Conferences
You might already have received information from your child(ren)’s teacher(s) regarding conferences. They will officially begin on Monday, 10/26 and run through November. Conferences will be offered virtually or by phone. Conferences are not mandatory, but it is strongly recommended that you check in with your child(ren)’s teacher(s) to be aware of his/her progress or if you have any questions or concerns.
