Dear HFS Families,
Happy Friday! This Sunday will mark the beginning of the third week of Advent, and the theme is JOY. When thinking about the theme, it struck me that joy and gratitude go hand-in-hand. There are many people and things in my life for which I am thankful, and that brings me great joy. Gratitude, however, needs to be practiced in our lives. This is not always easy. We must be conscious of our blessings. It is then we experience great joy! “Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine a light on our Home and School parents. They have been working very hard, as they always do, to bring back fun, social events for our families, and I would say that they have been doing a wonderful job! So far, they have organized a variety of fundraising dine out events, organized a pie and poinsettia sale for Thanksgiving, and most recently, they hosted Santa’s Secret Shop and Family Bingo Night!
I am grateful for these men and women who give their time so selflessly to provide a variety of activities for our community. These activities help to strengthen our HFS family, while providing fun for all. With that being said…
Home and School Volunteers
…Home and School is always looking for more parent volunteers. While this might seem like a big time commitment, it does not need to be. You can commit to as much or as little as you’d like, but please consider attending a meeting and/or volunteering for an event. It’s an easy way to meet other families, and the kids always enjoy seeing their parents at the events.
Don’t forget that in order to volunteer, you do need to be on the Approved Chaperone list. Click here for information regarding the required clearances.
If you are interested in more information, please contact Catherine Logue at catherinelogue81@gmail.com or Carrie Wilson at cmthirteen@yahoo.com.
National Day of Giving
Every year on Martin Luther King Day, Holy Family School participates in the National Day of Giving. This is an excellent opportunity for our families to come together and give back to the community. It’s also a great way for kids to learn about empathy, compassion, and hard work. Home and School is currently working on compiling a list of ideas, and they hope to have things ready for sign ups very soon.
If you are on the Approved Chaperone List, and you are able to volunteer, please contact Alyssa Mohan at alyssaandpatrick@gmail.com. We thank you in advance for your willingness to participate!
Christmas Pageant
We are so excited that HFS will be holding its annual Christmas Pageant next week on Tuesday, 12/14 at 1:15PM and again at 7:00PM. It will take place in St. Ann’s Chapel. Students should wear their uniforms for both presentations, but they may “jazz it up” with Christmas accessories - socks, tights, ties, headbands, jewelry, etc.
While we aren’t requiring students to attend the evening performance, the students are strongly encouraged to be in attendance, if possible. All K-8 students should plan to arrive between 6:30 and 6:45PM.
Families are welcome to attend, but remember that space is limited in the chapel. Seating will be first come, first served. As per the current mask mandate, this will be a masked event, regardless of vaccination status. We hope to see you all there!
December Lunch Monitors
All I Want for Christmas is…December lunch parents! Click here to get started. Remember you must be on the Approved Chaperone List to volunteer.
Fifth and Sixth Grade Sock Collection
The 5th and 6th Grade students are still collecting socks for the poor. If you are able to donate a pack of new socks, it would be greatly appreciated. It’s a small thing that could make someone’s day. Mrs. Mizii will be collecting them until Friday, 12/17.
Upcoming Dates
12/14/2021 Christmas Pageant in St. Ann’s Chapel @ 1:15PM and 7:00PM
12/16/2021 School Mass @ 9:30AM in St. Ann’s Chapel
12/23/2021-1/2/2022 Christmas Holidays
