Buddy Family Volunteers Needed

Greetings Holy Family School families!!
As you are all aware, we will be welcoming many new families, including those joining us from St. Basil the Great, to our HFS community next year. With that in mind, we are seeking current families with children in various grades to step up as Buddy Families for our new arrivals. Buddy Families play an important role in helping new parents and their children feel welcome in our community.

What do Buddy Families do?

1. Plan to attend (with your new family) the Ice Cream Social, scheduled Sunday, May 31^st (the Sunday following Memorial Day) from 1p-3p.
   1. This is the first gathering to which new families are invited with the goal of building community and answering any questions new families may have.
   2. It is possible that we will have a uniform fashion show, so we may ask for volunteer students to attend in uniform.
2. Contact the new family to introduce yourself and your children enrolled at HFS. We ask that you do this before the Ice Cream Social and confirm that they are planning to attend.
3. Help to facilitate messaging on important issues throughout the summer.
   1. The New Family Committee sends many messages via email to the new families throughout the summer. New families welcome information regarding things like the Flocco Shoe sale or Summer Enrichment assignments.
   2. We encourage you to follow up with a confirmation phone call to ensure that the new family received the email and to answer any questions they may have.
   3. You may also want to communicate “inside information” to our new families. They may welcome advice such as the need to stock up on contact paper or that most students don’t wear long sleeves. We will provide a list of suggested topics.
4. Most importantly, the Buddy Family helps to ensure that our new families feel welcome prior to their start date in September, so if there is any way you can assist in this effort, it would be most appreciated.
