Dear HFS Parents,
Happy Easter! I hope that you enjoyed the break last week and found some time to enjoy one another. I think it was much needed for all, and I am feeling recharged and ready to take on the rest of this year!
As we always do, Mrs. Martino and I spent some time chatting this week about the Easter Season (yes, it is a season, not just a day), and how she is going to try to live as an “Easter person”, a person of hope and joy! I think that is an example that we all should try to follow. For me, I think that I will try to continue focusing on the positive, but I also need to spend more time in reflection and prayer. Our lives are so busy, and sometimes we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed with all the “stuff” we have to do. Let’s not forget God wants to be invited into our “stuff”. Our families, jobs, and friends are all important, but our faith and relationship with God serve to enrich our lived experience. Pope John Paul II once said, “We are the Easter people and Hallelujah is our song.” How will YOU be an Easter person?
Principal’s Spotlight
This week, I would like to shine the light on Mrs. Lynette Smith. Mrs. Smith truly is a jack of all trades. Not only is she a parent here at HFS, but she is also the Home and School President. She has been working with Home and School for the last couple of years with great success. On top of that, she has also been an aide in our PreK classroom. She is reliable, intuitive to the needs of others, and quick to lend a helping hand when needed.
As if this isn’t enough, Mrs. Smith, a certified teacher, has been subbing for Mrs. Lickfeld as she recovers from surgery. She has been providing our youngest Panthers with much needed consistency and stability, not to mention fun, and she’s about to do it again! On April 14th, Mrs. Smith will be jumping into kindergarten and seeing our KB students through to the end of the year. They are really in for a treat!
Exciting News
On Thursday, 4/8, the 4th and 5th Grade students met Mr. Thomas Ruggieri. Mr. Ruggieri has been providing a 3 year scholarship to deserving students from our school in memory of his wife, Mrs. Martha Ruggieri for a number of years now. Mrs. Ruggieri was a PreK aide here for a long time, and he wanted to make sure that her legacy lived on.
We are thrilled to announce that Molly M. is this year’s recipient! Congratulations, Molly! We are so proud of you! Your hard work, integrity, and service are an inspiration to all.
Registration
Registration has been going incredibly well since we began the process earlier this school year. I am thrilled to share with you that we have 201 students registered for the 2021-2022 school year. That number includes both current families and new families. I would like to thank you for your continued support and spreading the word about Holy Family School. Please continue to do so as we move towards summer. We are looking forward to continuing to welcome more new families!
Correction
Earlier this week, I sent out a letter regarding uniforms. Please be advised that the maroon Holy Family jacket is not the only option. The black jacket is also acceptable. We neglected to update this in our Student Handbook. We will make sure to do so for the 2021-2022 school year.
