I need to start my letter by letting you know how much I have come to depend upon seeing you, your children, and the Holy Family Staff each day. I have had the opportunity to see a small number of people since the building closed, and it always brightens my day! While Mrs. Martino has been working so hard to keep us all connected via Facebook, there is nothing like seeing your smiling faces in person. Typically, I would share a relevant Biblical quote; however, I felt that this proverb was more appropriate: “Absence makes the heart grow fonder.” You all hold a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to see you all again!
Teacher Spotlight This week, I am shining the spotlight on Ms. Rachael Saxon. Ms. Saxon is another new member of our faculty this year, and we knew we had found someone special from the get-go. She continues to provide interesting and engaging lessons, while managing to add the FUN! I had the opportunity to pop into a Zoom lesson on fractions earlier this week. Ms. Saxon took the time to involve all of the students in the lesson, including me. She then went on to have an additional lesson the following day to reinforce what the children had learned by having them make edible cookie dough, focusing on the fractions used in cooking. Ms. Saxon is a joy for all of us, and she is shining in her first year in teaching!
I would like to thank you all again for taking the time to complete the Cyber Learning/Flexible Instruction survey. We are reading each and every one of them so that we can best determine how to move forward so that our children are receiving the best overall academic experience possible given our current situation.
Registration is open, and we cannot wait to welcome everyone back in September! If you have not already done so, please click here to begin the process. If you’d like a paper copy, please email Mrs. Martino at office@myholyfamilyschool.org.
For those of you who have paid for Trivia Night and/or lunches prior to the closure of the building, please know that Mrs. Bahr is working on the refunding of those monies. Once she has solidified the details, you will be informed. For the 8th Grade Families, we look forward to seeing you next week when you come in to pick up t-shirts and graduation gowns. As stated in Mrs. Martino’s letter earlier this week, you may pick up on Tuesday, 4/28 or Wednesday, 4/29 from 9:30 until 11:00. Please remember to follow proper protocol (masks, distancing, etc.). Approximately half of the class has voted on their May King and Queen. Please make sure to remind your child to email me directly (jdamelio@myholyfamilyschool.org) with their vote.
