Welcome to the Holy Family School Art Department! I am Mrs. Kristin Abell and I have been teaching Art at Holy Family since 2010. I have a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) degree from Villanova University, with a Minor in Art History.
Before coming to teach Art at HFS, I spent 5 years raising my daughter, Kasey. Before that, my career took me on an incredible journey for over 20 years in Marketing, Advertising, Special Event Planning, and Leadership Training/Motivational Speaking. One of the highlights of my business career was working for Walt Disney World as the Marketing Manager for Disney Hollywood Studios and then as the Manager of Special Events for all four of the Walt Disney World Theme Parks in Orlando, Florida.
My approach to teaching Art comes from my years of "technical art training" in college, and then from my many years in the business world, applying all that I had learned. My current Art class philosophy revolves around one word = CREATIVITY! I am a firm believer in the power of creative thinking and I have a passion to pass on that spirit of creativity to all of our amazing students at HFS! My years as a Leadership Trainer/Motivational Speaker cemented my belief in the immense potential inside each individual. My creativity idols are Walt Disney, Charles Schultz, and Dr. Seuss, who also all believed in the childlike wonder and imagination in all of us!
I live in Phoenixville with my wonderful husband, Terry, our daughter, Kasey, and our two dogs, Miley and Penny. When I'm not teaching Art, I love to spend time traveling, walking, laughing (A LOT) with family & friends, and swimming in the ocean at the Jersey Shore.
I feel extremely blessed and honored to have the opportunity to teach Art to the students of HFS, and I look forward to a wonderful year filled with fun, exploration and, of course, CREATIVITY!!!!
